Overview

The list of America's best full-size cargo vans, passenger wagons, and cutaways, cannot be complete without Ford E-Series. The E-Series lineup is productive and convenient to everyone from small business owners to custom upfitters to larger commercial fleet operators. It is the only full-size van available with the SYNC voice-activated communications and entertainment system and industry-exclusive Ford Work Solutions technology. The available navigation system features a 6.5-inch touch screen display integrated into the instrument panel which helps one get to the job site or vacation cottage plus the flexible door system permits doors to be held open at 105 degrees and opened to 178 degrees with a simple push. The 2010 Ford E-Series vans are available in E-150, E-250 Super Duty and E-350 Super Duty regular and extended-length configurations. Wagons are available in and E-150 and E-350 Super Duty regular-length and E-350 Super Duty extended-length configurations. The passenger vans of regular-length can seat between 7 to 12 passengers; Passenger vans with extended-length can carry up to 15 passengers.

Powertrain And Performance

Two engine choices are available on the E-150, which are now E85-capable in the cargo vans. Standard on E-150 and E-250 models is a 225-hp 4.6-liter V8 teamed with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Optional on the E-150 and E-250 is a 255-hp 5.4-liter V8, which is standard on E-350 models. This engine is teamed with a 4-speed automatic transmission or optional 5-speed automatic. The E-350 gets an optional 305-hp 6.8-liter V10, or a 235-hp 6.0-liter V8 turbo diesel coupled with a 5-speed automatic transmission. An upgraded heavy-duty alternator is optional with the 5.4-liter V8, 6.8-liter V10, and the diesel engine.

Build And Styling

The industry-exclusive Ford Work Solutions innovations on the 2010 Ford E-Series include a navigation system with a 6.5-inch touch screen display integrated into the instrument panel, SIRIUS travel link for real-time local traffic, weather and fuel price information, rear backup camera (Vans and Wagons only), and flex-fuel capable gasoline V8 engines. A tough, functional interior that reflects its exterior design includes key features such as functional, user-friendly instrument panel and center console, an optional audio input jack on the instrument panel that connects E-Series to MP3 players and other portable audio devices and a large glove box that provides still more storage and a second power point.

Safety Features

The 2010 Ford E-Series' safety equipment include an optional dash-mounted front-passenger air bag cutoff switch on vans and cutaways; standard AdvanceTrac with RSC (Roll Stability Control) on all wagons and recreational vans (optional on commercial vans with gasoline engines), and an optional factory-installed integrated trailer brake controller that permits direct operation of a trailer's electronic brakes.
