The time is almost upon us when we’re going to get new updates about the 2024 Ford Explorer. As of this writing, Ford hasn’t released any official information. But we can already start making assumptions and speculations as to what next year’s model may start to look from what we know this year. Based on pre-released photos and the best specs from the 2023 model, we’ll start to piece together the version of the 2024 Ford Explorer we might come to expect.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
- The 2024 Ford Explorer will be the sixth Explorer generation since 2020.
- The Explorer will most likely not receive any new engine upgrades.
- Interior and exterior styling adjustments to be expected, such as revised headlights.
THE HORSEPOWER OF THE 2024 FORD EXPLORER
This is purely speculation, as there has been no information dropped on what the engine will look like in the 2024 Ford Explorer, but we can expect the engines will remain largely like what is already available for drivers. The Explorer is known for its solid selection of three powertrains to choose from all ranging in size and power, and we can also expect that trend to carry over as well with one of the mid-tier powertrains such as the 3.0-liter V6 with 400 horsepower potentially becoming the new standard.
The V6 is already a popular engine of choice when it comes to powertrain favorites on the 2023 Explorer and acts as a significant upgrade from the standard 2.3-liter V4 engine with 300 horsepower. It would be no surprise if Ford decided to go with the 2023 mid-tier engine as the standard for the 2024 Ford Explorer.
THE NEW EXPLORER: REDESIGN
While no official information has been released as to what specifically will change in the coming year, we can make some unofficial guesses based off what has been seen around. Photos of prototypes indicate there will be some revisions to the headlights, taillights and the front grille design with the possibility of an LED light bar similar to the trend other Fords have taken. With cues from the F-150 Lighting EV pickup the Explorer could have a powerful new exterior.
While there haven’t been any photos released of the interior, we can expect that the 2024 Ford Explorer will have an expanded infotainment section. Upgrades to standard safety features that may have been trim specific such as lane assist, cruise controls, and other safety features may swing over the base standard in the new Ford Explorer.
WHAT TO EXPECT NEXT: PRICE INCREASE
One thing that can be certain for next year’s Explorer is a price increase, as with every new model of a car. The current trim lineups of the Explorer include: the XLT, ST-Line, Limited, Timberline, ST, Platinum and King Ranch ranging from the base of $38,000 to the highest end of $56,000. In the coming months we’ll have a better idea on how this price range is going to jump up as well as more official information on the Explorer. So come here for all the latest updates!
